DID YOU KNOW?

In 2015 and 2016, the average installed cost of PV systems in Medfield was $4.40/watt.  Solarize Medfield Tier 2 is $3.45/watt, a savings of 22%!

Medfield’s Installer is:

TIERED PRICING STRUCTURE

Everyone will pay the same price.  Those that join early will get a refund as the tiers lower the price.

BASIC SYSTEM

New England Clean Energy believes SunPower offers PV panels that are the best in terms of efficiency, output, and warranties in the industry.  SunPower is the only manufacturer that’s been in business longer than its warranty. Its ongoing investment in R&D indicates that they are in solar for the long haul. This financially stable U.S. company is an environmental leader as well.

Most important, with the low price New England Clean Energy has negotiated for Solarize Medfield, the savings and overall financial return of this program’s SunPower systems eclipses any difference in the initial price when compared to conventional panel systems. SunPower’s panels produce 7-10% more energy per watt of panel capacity. Under typical shading conditions, a system with the SolarEdge optimizers we install will produce 7-20% more energy than a systems without optimizers or microinverters.

This combination means Medfield home and business owners will get up to 31% more energy for every watt they invest in. It also means our systems need fewer panels, and deliver greater savings by covering more of the homeowner’s electric bills.

If you compare an 8kw SunPower system from New England Clean Energy, which comes with optimizers and our 20-year workmanship warranty, with an 8kW conventional panel system with optimizers and extended workmanship warranties added at additional cost, our SunPower system pays for itself sooner and has up to 31% greater financial return over 10 years. Additionally, SunPower panels have a degradation rate of 0.4% compared to 0.7-1.0% for most standard panels. As the panels age, our system will continue to provide more electricity for longer. This means Medfield residents will save thousands of dollars more over the panel lifetime with a system from Clean Energy than going solar with a conventional installer.

Furthermore, should material or manufacturing defects manifest themselves down the road, SunPower’s warranties cover material and manufacturing defects for 25 years versus 10-12 years for most conventional panels; and SunPower covers labor too - a level of coverage generally not found from other manufacturers. Without labor coverage, a problem with just a single panel could saddle the owner with hundreds of dollars in labor costs. With Clean Energy and SunPower, there are no additional costs. We have already talked to solar owners unable to find replacement panels for their systems; SunPower inventories its older models to ensure customers have replacements if needed.

The better financial return from our special Solarize Medfield pricing, extra electricity combined with our top-rated customer service, and industry-leading warranties mean that Medfield home and business owners will enjoy a worry–free Solarize Medfield program and solar ownership experience.

HOW PRICING WORKS

Solar systems are sized by the total potential output of the panels. For example, if you have a system with 20 of the standard 320 watt panels in this program, your system will be classified as a 6,400 watt system, or 6.4 kW. That value is added to the total installation capacity. So, if the town has 10 of these 20 panel systems, the total is 64kW. That puts the price into Tier 3, and that 6,400 watt system costs $21,760 before any adders or incentives are applied.

As each homeowner signs a contract, the total installed capacity is increased. It does not matter if you sign on day 1 or on the last day, in the end, everyone pays the same base price. Early adopters will receive a refund based on the final achieved tier. New England Clean Energy and the Medfield Volunteers expect to reach Tier 5.

THE PROCESS

Home and business owners need to sign up to have their property evaluated. This can be done on this website or by contacting New England Clean Energy directly. New England Clean Energy will schedule an appointment to come and evaluate your property and discuss your options. They will prepare a proposal with full pricing, warranty, and production expectations. If, once you have all the information, you wish to proceed; you place a $1,000 deposit and sign the contract. You have 10 days to cancel this contract if you change your mind.  After that, only unexpended portions of the deposit will be refunded

New England Clean Energy then does all the work. They will do the engineering, pull permits, get the paperwork with the state and Eversource, and even help you set up a loan or other financial arrangement. Once all the paperwork is in place, they will come and install your system taking a couple days. When this is complete, there is a short delay as Eversource prepares for your system to go live. You will then get training on how the system operates, how to report production for SRECs, and what do expect over the next 10-20 years. Soon, you will get permission to turn on your system and enjoy the clean energy of the sun!

HOW BIG DO I NEED?

Every home is different. The New England Clean Energy representative will ask for a recent utility bill so that they can see your power use over the past year. This will set a target size. Your roof, property, tree shading, and other factors will determine how much of that target can be met. Many things from array location, panel upgrades, tree work, etc. can be addressed to see how various options change the production and ultimately your costs.

Typically, residential systems tend to range in the 8,000-10,000 watt range for communities like Medfield. This puts the price of a system between $26,400 and $48,300 before any incentives or adders are applied.
